PROFESSION

The use of the MICROSCOPE for all procedures and treatments ranging from the most complicated (reconstructive jaw surgery, etc.) to the least (oral hygiene, etc.), enormously increases the quality of work performed.

The duties of the hygienist become much more meaningful and precise which contributes substantially to the elimination of unnecessary esthetic periodontal surgery.

The assistant is aided in her work by the presence of a closed-circuit video camera which by visualizing the procedures on large plasma screens or LCDs, facilitates all her auxiliary maneuvers. Procedures performed with the microscope offer the patient many of the following advantages exclusive to this technique:

  1. 1 - The diagnostic capacity becomes generally more powerful thanks to the enhanced vision.

  2. 2 - The surgeon is placed in an ideal working situation due to the large quantity of uniform light without shadows provided by halogen or xenon sources.

  3. 3 - Ideal lighting allows for accurate work even in areas of the oral cavity where quality depends on the amount of illumination.

  4. 4 - In root canal treatment, such as the re-treatment of teeth with a granuloma, the microscope is considered indispensable by the specialist for a correct assessment of the endodontic anatomy which would be impossible with the naked eye.

  5. 5 - In surgery, the microscope is fundamental for atraumatic extractions, especially in case of impacted teeth.

  6. 6 - In restorative treatment, it allows for an absolute check of the margins, necessary for a lower risk of cavity relapse and for less or no post-operative sensitivity.

  7. 7 - In periodontology, it allows the hygienist to work efficiently even in the deepest pockets, creating a healthy environment which avoids periodontal surgery.

  8. 8 - It is fundamental in implantology, especially for delicate procedures such as sinus lifts.

  9. 9 - In prosthetics, the microscope makes it possible to finish off and check our preparations, as well as the work of the dental technician. We can be assured that the precision of the custom-made protheses which are inserted in the mouth of the patient are accurate to the thousandths of a millimeter.

  10. 10 - The average use of the microscope develops a capacity of self-criticism for surgeons which forces them to continually raise the qualitative standards of their work, independent of their experience or personal inclinations.
